Thea Pocalypse - Friday, July 24, 2009
Saturday, August 8, our Roc City Roller Derby wonderwomen will do battle against the two biggest ladykillers, heart disease and breast cancer. Come on down to The Dome for the 7:00 match. Buy a ticket, cheer them on, do some good.

Tickets available at Parkleigh or online here

Our next home bout, RCRD vs the Alley Kats

Thea Pocalypse - Saturday, June 13, 2009

Join us for a domestic quarrel on Saturday, June 20th. The last time these two teams were together was in January for the Borderline Brawl hosted by Buffalo's Queen City Roller Girls. It was RCRD's first bout ever!
Now, Roc City Roller Derby is able to host a team—here, in Rochester, for the first time! We're both ready to tear up the rink for two, 30-minute periods. Your league has fought to build the league, trained hard, gained unique skills and experience—and with a record of 2 and 2—surprised Upstate New York while taking their victories.

As for bouts in Rochester, it's only the second  of the season. Our first, the Inaugural Brawl, this past May 16th was a sold-out show—news that brought a unusually heart-warming emotional edge to these tough skaters! This time, expect an incredible match, larger venue, full concession, and spectacular entertainment from Dan Frank and the True Believers.

Partial proceeds benefit your local charity, Sojourner House.
Where: The Dome Arena • 2695 E Henrietta Rd. • Henrietta, NY 14467
Doors at 6pm, Bout at 7pm

Tickets available (the week of the event): Parkleigh, 215 Park Ave Rochester, NY 14607  •  online at http://www.rocderby.com  • at the door the night of the event • $10.00, general • $15.00, suicide seats (no kids in front row) •  $5.00 under 12 • free 3yrs and under
At the door: $15.00  •  general, $20.00, suicide seats

RCRD vs Ithaca's Suffer Jets

Thea Pocalypse - Wednesday, May 27, 2009

What: Bouting with Ithaca's Suffer Jets!

When: May 30th, 2009. Doors Open at 7pm. First whistle at 7:30pm

Where Cass Park Rink, 701 Taughannock Blvd., Ithaca, NY

We look forward to bouting with Ithaca's Suffer Jets, a wonderfully fun and skilled team to play. These Ithaca roller girls are in their first season but formed a local team after joining and practicing with the Assault City Roller Derby League since the Fall of 2007. In their own words, "The SufferJets take history for a ride on skates as they celebrate one of the many victories of the women’s rights movement in athletic form." This should be a great bout. Join us.

The Suffer Jets will be issuing tickets at the door with a suggested donation of $10.

Just wanted to congratulate all the girls and guys involved in the first home bout. What a testimony to all the hard work you have done. To the captains, coaches, bench managers and skaters BRAVO. Your never say die spirit made the bout exciting to the last jam. To the refs, fantastic job - the game was fluid with few gaps. I know the team appreciates the keepers of the score and penalties, but unless you make a concerted effort to watch the beehive of activity in the center, people would not realize the chain of events that help keep the records and track the vital stats, nice job, all. And then there are the rest of the girls making it possible to pack the venue, sell the merch and do other behind the scene things that keep the sport alive. To witness the comraderie, team spirit and close bonds that are forming is perhaps the biggest testiment to the truly awe inspiring force of nature that is going to be HUGE in Rochester. Go RCRD.
